Steven Greer: From ER Trauma Surgeon to Disclosure Pioneer — The CE-5 Protocols

Steven Greer's path to becoming the central figure in UAP disclosure is itself a case study in how consciousness experiences drive the phenomenon. THE CHILDHOOD SIGHTING (c. 1963): At approximately age 8, Greer witnessed a disc-shaped craft near his home in Charlotte, North Carolina. The experience planted the seed but didn't define his path — he went into medicine. THE NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE (c. 1972): At age 17, Greer had a near-death experience that profoundly altered his understanding of consciousness. He experienced what he describes as unbounded awareness — consciousness existing independent of the body. This wasn't abstract philosophy; it was a direct experience that he later connected to the mechanism behind CE-5 contact. The NDE gave him a framework: consciousness is non-local, and if it's non-local, it can reach anywhere — including to non-human intelligences. THE FAMILY CONNECTION: Greer's uncle worked at Grumman Aerospace (now Northrop Grumman) on classified aerospace programs, reportedly including work connected to the lunar module and other advanced projects. Through his uncle, Greer had a family line into the defense-aerospace contractor world from a young age. He gained early awareness that classified programs existed far beyond public knowledge. This is significant: Greer didn't stumble into disclosure as an outsider. He had a family connection to the exact contractor ecosystem that would later become central to UAP reverse-engineering allegations. When Greer later told Admiral Wilson which contractor to call, that knowledge had roots going back to his family. THE MEDICAL CAREER: Studied at Appalachian State University, earned his medical degree from East Tennessee State University, then studied transcendental meditation at Maharishi International University — an unusual combination that put him at the intersection of Western medicine and Eastern consciousness practices. Became an emergency room physician and trauma department chairman at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, NC. The ER work matters: this was not an armchair theorist. He was a working trauma surgeon who left a lucrative medical career. THE CE-5 BREAKTHROUGH (late 1980s): In the late 1980s, Greer began experimenting with meditation-based contact protocols and had direct contact experiences. The critical insight: the phenomenon responds to consciousness, not technology. While the military was trying to track, capture, and reverse-engineer craft using radar, jets, and EMP weapons, Greer found that coherent thought, focused intention, and group meditation could initiate contact. This became CE-5 — Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind — human-initiated contact. Hynek's original classification system went to CE-4 (abductions). Greer added the fifth kind: we go to them, not through hardware, but through consciousness. THE CSETI PROTOCOLS: Founded CSETI (Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence) in 1990 to formalize the methodology. CE-5 protocols involve: (1) group meditation achieving coherent consciousness state, (2) remote viewing / vectoring — mentally broadcasting location and intention, (3) specific tonal sequences (connection to our 110 Hz / frequency research), (4) laser signaling. CSETI expeditions have documented UAP appearances during CE-5 sessions — including events witnessed by multiple people simultaneously with photographic and video evidence. THE CONNECTION TO THE HUB: CE-5 is not separate from the consciousness thread we've been building. Bentov's 7 Hz aortic resonance, the Gateway Process, the 110 Hz piezoelectric skull theory, the psychedelic 5-HT2A activation — they all point to the same thing: consciousness is the interface. Greer arrived at this empirically through personal experience before he had any of the science. The defense establishment suppresses consciousness TECHNOLOGY (craft, propulsion) and consciousness BIOLOGY (psychedelics) precisely because consciousness IS the access mechanism. CE-5 is the proof of concept. WHY HE LEFT MEDICINE: Greer walked away from his medical career entirely — no institutional backing, no government funding, no university affiliation. He funded the Disclosure Project through speaking events and documentaries. For 35 years, he has operated outside every power structure that could have co-opted or silenced him.
