Men in Black Phenomenon (1953-Present)

Since the early 1950s, UAP witnesses have reported visits from mysterious men dressed in black suits who warn them to remain silent about their sightings. Albert Bender, founder of the International Flying Saucer Bureau, was among the first to report the phenomenon in 1953 — three men in dark suits visited him and he immediately shut down his organization. The men are typically described as pale, emotionless, speaking in a monotone, displaying detailed knowledge of the witness's sighting (often before the witness has told anyone), and arriving in black Cadillacs. Researcher John Keel documented dozens of MIB encounters during the 1966-67 Mothman/Point Pleasant wave. Some witnesses describe the men as not quite human — odd skin, strange mannerisms, unfamiliarity with ordinary objects. Dr. Jacques Vallee has documented MIB patterns across cultures and noted their similarity to folkloric entities. Whether government agents, non-human entities, or psychological phenomena, the MIB represent the suppression dimension of the UAP phenomenon — someone or something actively discourages witnesses from speaking.
