Robert Schoch
Geologist / Associate Professor, Boston University
Associate professor of natural science at Boston University's College of General Studies. In 1991, Schoch presented geological evidence that the erosion patterns on the Great Sphinx and its enclosure walls were caused by prolonged rainfall — not wind and sand. Since the Sahara has been arid for approximately 5,000 years, the Sphinx must predate 3000 BC by thousands of years, potentially dating to 7000-10,000 BC or earlier. His analysis was presented at the Geological Society of America and has been broadly supported by geologists while rejected by Egyptologists because it contradicts the accepted timeline. His work on the Sphinx is the strongest scientific evidence for a pre-dynastic advanced civilization in Egypt. He has also studied the Yonaguni Monument underwater structure off Japan. Author of 'Forgotten Civilization' and 'Voices of the Rocks.'
